Sioux Empire Kennel Club Class Policies:
- Classes are 6 weeks and cost $60.00. If you take puppy class, you will qualify for a $5.00 deduction for all classes that you take in subsequent sessions
as long as you have no breaks in enrollment. NOTE: If your class is scheduled on Tuesday evening it will not be held on the second
Tuesday of the month as this is our monthly club meeting. Class dates are always subject to change. There must be a minimum of 5 dogs
registered to hold a class
- All dogs must have the following vaccinations:
- Rabies as required by Sioux Falls City Ordinance for dogs old enough to receive the vaccine with
a minimum of every three years with a three year vaccine. Exceptions granted with a letter from the
dog's veterinarian.
- Distemper/Parvo Puppy series through 16 weeks required (age appropriate for puppies). Follow-up booster at age 1 with a booster
required every 3 years after that. Exceptions granted with a letter from the dog's veterinarian.
- Bordatella (Kennel Cough) required within the past year. Exception granted with a letter from the dog's veterinarian
- Puppys must be at least 12 weeks of age and have received 2 rounds of puppy vaccinations
- All policies will be enforced unless a letter is received from a veterinarian with a medical reason for not giving a vaccination.
A next due date on the vaccination certificate from the dog's veterinarian is acceptable
in lieu of a letter.
- If classes are cancelled, it will be announced on the SEKC answering machine:

- We do not tolerate abuse, neglect, etc. of dogs (or kids or other people).
- Dogs are to be kept under control at all times. If the dog makes a mess it is the responsibility
of the handler to clean up the mess. (Both in class and while waiting for class to begin)
- Families are encouraged to come along, but are not to be disruptive or play on the equipment.
No children are to handle the dog if they are 13 and under unless they demonstrate to the instructor's
satisfaction that they can handle the dog. If not, the parent is to handle the dog.
- Refunds are not given after the completion of the second night.
- If for some reason someone has to drop a class (sickness, etc.) please speak to the instructor.
- If two classes are taken it is full price for the first class and half-price for the second
class. The same costs apply for a person who has two dogs in the same class.
- In order to pass the class and receive the diploma, only 2 weeks of the 6 week session may be missed.
- Any aggressive dog, or dog who displays aggression, will be asked to wear a muzzle to return to class
the following week. If the owner refuses to comply, they will not be allowed to participate in
class and the dog will not be allowed in the building, however, the owner may audit the class for
the remainder of the session. If the owner refuses to comply and chooses not to audit, no refunds will be given
after the completion of the second night. (see#7)
